Who was rude? I read all 3 of your past posts and I see nothing that could possibly be construed as rude. On the other hand, your grammar is a bit crude......dude!!!

I have noticed this also, but in defense of the southerners, they are the majority in this forum. So I understand to some degree why their interest is limited

Well, there was a post asking "Where is the Carolina contingency" but it was locked.

There was another post about the water rising in the Neuse river at New Bern but it was also locked.

I'm just a guest, and there is a lot going on, but I would have thought more people would be interested in posts by those who are in the path. (Well, at least the latest path. :D )

I'm from the South and I'm looking for every piece of info I can find on this storm.

I was planning on being in the Washington - Oriental area on Wed. looking for a new home for us/our sailboat. It looks like I might have to pick another time.

At least I can't be accused of having a 'cane follow me up from Florida...

Stay safe everyone!

Who are all the rude people? I just read through this thread and didn't find anything rude until I got here. I find most people here to be nice and helpful so your comment certainly stood out. Perhaps when you come across all of these rude people, you could PM one of the mods and let us know of the offending posts so we can check them out and take action, if necessary. We read a lot but we can't possibly read everything.

The thread about flooding in New Bern was posted by me and was locked because I should have put it in the main thread, so that was my fault.

I am going to try and take pictures daily of how the water is rising, flooding, and any local damage we may get if the hurricane blows here in New Bern. I will be putting them up on the internet for anyone who may be interested. I really hate to post alot of pic's on the main thread as there are some that are on dialup and lots of graphics make it really hard on them.

Hey from Greenville, I had *heard* that it was possiable for this to become a cat 2 before landfall, I realize that she is stationary now and is swirling up cool water, my concern is when she starts moving on the gulf coast, and I'd like to know if it will be a slow mover..

Any thing is possible but as of now they are saying a Cat 1. For how fast she will be moving, check out

The grapic should give you a good idea as to time frame of her moving along the coast.

Great advice from southerngale, the mods take quick action on complaints. Being an open forum we will always have to deal with the few who cause problems. The threads that were locked were strictly the mods doing some housekeeping, makes it easier for the rest of us to find everything in one location. Post away! :)

Saw Oriental on the TV last night and at least one little section of road had water over it.

I also talked to someone in Washington this morning and he didn't think that there would really be any problems. His brother owns (or works at) a boat place on the water and is used to getting water in his shop everytime the wind blows the wrong way, so I guess he is getting ready for that.

I am guessing that Washington will be fine, but Oriental is probably going to have some problems.

And on my way over to Beaufort this morning I was listening to CNN on the satalite radio. They said that the storm would probably hit Atlantic Beach and may even hit Morehead City. For those of you who are not familular with the area, Atlantic Beach sits basically South of Morehead City, and are separated by a bridge (maybe half mile long?). I thought to myself that if it did hit Atlantic Beach, it would have to work really, really hard not to hit Morehead City.

Unless there were some posts deleted I did not see one iota of rudeness in the thread. Jsut seemed like some nice homey conversation amongst Carolinians!

I can attest to the Mods helping out if there is anything out of line posted. Just copy the thread link and PM one of them. They will check it out and take care of the bad ones.

Good luck in NC with this one.
I suspect that it will end up being not much of anything beyond the surf issues and erosion you may have alrady seen.
Seems to be weakening a bit again.

Hellow fellow Carolinians

#38 Postby Carolina_survivor » Mon Sep 12, 2005 10:18 am

Hello to my fellow Carolinians on the board. I was born and raised in Williamston and work in Greenville.

Keeping my fingers crossed for Ophelia to slide on past us all.

Figured I would pass on just in case anyone has children and in the area and doesn't know. Just herd anouncement that Carteret County has officially Closed Schools.

Here's something I put on another thread, unforunatly, it still holds true :( :
I'm here, in Havelock today, I saw a Major Debris Field (MDF for short)waiting to happen, there is one house that is being built right now that has left over lumber all over the yard, would look real pretty in someones front door or window  Then in pretty much everyones yard there were junk or other stuff that could become airborne easily... I hope Ophelia doesnt take advantage of this huge MDF... :(
