Let's hope someone competent steps up to fill the shoes a bit better than he did, especially since hurricane season isn't over yet.

I agree. I kind of feel sorry for him though just at the personal level.

I was surprised though that it didn't come on Friday afternoon and took this long.

To keep this *unpolitical*, I will only say that...I hope the replacement's employers, after searching well for a competent person, do a complete background check for a qualified person to be put in place. I believe the resources are there. 8-)

Ah ... If that's who I think it is, he's a good choice. There was a David Paulison who ran Dade County USAR. Several firefighter friends of mine had a high opinion of him.

And he played a key role in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew as well :D Definitely sounds like a good choice.
