Perhaps they are worried about it moving so slow. I have been hearing alot of comments from our local mets as to us being in T.S. force winds for over 24 hours.

Very true.....if there is 24 hours (or even more) of good wind pushing that sound water up the rivers and creeks, we're bound to get some flooding.

Yes, after writing I saw it on the 11:00 pm news, but they certainly do not seem to be making a big deal out of it (have not heard it from anybody except on the news). I would imagine (like most storms) they are suggesting evacuation of anyone on Bogue Banks, low areas and those in moble homes.

This morning is really nice. Still feels cooler then normal. We did get some really hard rain last night, but the highest gust I had was about 16 mph (this is a little blocked by some trees, but fairly open on my roof). In the past few days I have had gusts of 25-30 mph. But we will see what the next few days bring...

Hey Robert... yeah, actually it is pretty warm out there now when the sun is out. I think we are gonna get the winds around 10am or so tomorrow and not letting up much till thursday... which is gonna push a whole lotta water around in down east carteret county. The kids I teach live to cedar island, atlantic, sea level, etc... many just finished rebuilding after losing everything in Isabel.

Hi weatherwoman... i was out on the pier last night too. I just came from across the causeway over in atlantic beach... the kite store there has a pretty decent weather station... winds were staying around 20-22 mph and really not many gusts at all yet.

If memory serves right, Isabel came in over Atlantic Beach, or just to the East of there, and I heard about all the flooding down east. I didn't get down that way for another maybe 6 months, and there will still piles and piles of trash in front of every house. I am worried that this might be a similar set up.

Really I am worried about everything East of Beaufort (including Okracoke). I am not sure what the highest elevation is out there, but can not imagine there is much over 8 or 10 feet above sea level. One thing is sure, if I lived out there, I would not be staying. Just no place to go to get to higher ground.

Dare Co schools closed at 12. Mandatory evac for Hatteras Island but NOT the northern beaches. This has already caused problems here because the Hampton Roads stations stated mandatory Dare County evacs. without the Hatteras Island statement. If she does stay on the TPC course the eye will pass right over Nags Head so no doubt there will be an evac here, just a matter of time.

Staying right here, we are a good 800 feet from the ocean and my first floor is a whopping 9.2 ft (around nine feet one and a three quater inches) msl.
