I think some might need the escape of watching their city's football team play for 3 hours a week. Or doing something 'normal' again.....and I'm not even a football fan, but I asked my husband (who is) where the Saints would be playing in the future.
But in many accounts, you're right, a football game is the least of their concerns right now. I have heard quotes from NOLA displaced residents though, saying they want to watch a game right now. For the comraderie too.

In the big scheme of things, I agree. But to the tens of thousands of people now scattered around the country, the New Orleans Saints mean that there is still a New Orleans. It provides an identity and something to cheer for - I think many in the nation will surprise themselves by cheering along.

There will always be a New Orleans, the Saints on the other hand...
Benson being Benson again. One more trivial, yet positive sign in our slow return to normalcy.
From The Baton Rouge Business Report's Daily Report:
Benson works the San Antonio crowd
Tom Benson says he wants to keep the Saints in Louisiana, but he appears to be working the San Antonio angle as well. The team owner told a crowd in San Antonio yesterday the Saints games moving to the Alamadome will give the Texas city a chance to show it can back an NFL franchise. "It's more important for everyone involved to make certain capacity crowds attend every game that we have here," says Benson, whose team will play three games in the Alamodome and four in Tiger Stadium. The Saints plan to release ticket information today regarding the Baton Rouge games. In Tiger Stadium, the team will play Nick Saban's Miami Dolphins, the Chicago Bears Nov. 6, Tampa Bay Dec. 4 and Carolina Dec. 18. All Baton Rouge games are scheduled for noon.
