"The thread about flooding in New Bern was posted by me and was locked because I should have put it in the main thread, so that was my fault.
I am going to try and take pictures daily of how the water is rising, flooding, and any local damage we may get if the hurricane blows here in New Bern. I will be putting them up on the internet for anyone who may be interested. I really hate to post alot of pic's on the main thread as there are some that are on dialup and lots of graphics make it really hard on them.

Thank you for the additional information. I notice that the other two threads have been unlocked. Thank you to who ever did that.
Feels friendlier around here knowing those of us in the path can share our experiences.
Driving home from work and crossing over the Trent river at about 5:00 PM the water around the Lawson Creek Park docks seemed to be down just slightly from yesterday. That water should be rising again tomorrow and Wednesday.
Thanks again for opening the Carolina threads.

Driving around Morehead today I saw three TV trucks, and didn't recognize a single channel (we don't get any of them here). They were all from NC, but I think Wilmington, Fayetteville and other places. Makes me nervous to see so much attention to our area.

Re: funny collard story. BTW, I hate 'em. So I wasn't at the festival (it was last weekend.) Plus I was in a car accident last Thursday, been sitting around the house every since.
Anyway, my funny collard story: My first year here in Eastern NC (7th grade) I joined the Boy Scouts. I participated in an active troop, and attended Boy Scout Camp at Camp Bonner after a year of being in the troop. They served collard greens along with the rest of a meal I really enjoyed. I wanted seconds, but the policy was you had to clean your plate in order to get a second serving of anything. I protested, but they insisted I eat the greens, so I did. About 2 minutes later they came right back up. I went to the serving line and demanded my second helping, which they happily provided, without any more greens. For the rest of my stay there, I DIDN'T have to eat my greens in order to get a second helping of anything else!
Conditions here in Ayden: We had a shower, nothing major. Very humid, mosquitos out in full force, even during mid day. Last night at was still air.
