report from emerald isle
just got back from the pier--the ocean is really getting rough and we are going to have a hight tide--talked to the beach patrol and they are saying 4-6 feet above normal
there is a mandatory evacuation of all non residents that must start at 6 p.m.--the clouds are really getting darker and rain is on the horizon--getting ready to put the storm shutters up

Based on 4PM radar echo observations, the center of "O" now appears to be close to 32.7N, -78.3W. If this is an accurate read, "O's" motion remains NNW since last reported position at 11AM. This translates to about a 28 mile move.
In Wilmington (near Wrightsville Beach) , we are at the doorstep of the main feeder bands surrounding "O's" center. Think we'll see the heavy rain squalls / increasing wind here by 5PM.

Just kind of breezy here, with gusts to the 20's, but getting some pretty good rain with this band. Looks as if it going to be a long day and night tonight as they have moved the time tables again. Local met is now saying this is not going to be off our coast until late Thursday.
Okibeach you stay safe out there....

Squally and gusty. 20-30 mph with higher gusts maybe. Power is still on. I got-up early to make COFFEE YES YES YES!!!!! Okay sorry about that. . . but if you are a coffee drinker and well you know what I'm talking about. . .
The local officials are saying it will be bad between 10am est and tonight. I hope it does not get much worst. Streets are flooding along with yards. We are with-in 1/2 mile of the ocean.
Girlfriend could sleep thru artillery assault.

Thanks, definetely starting to get a bit intense now. Amazed the power is on, guess all the recent undergrounding of power lines on the island is paying some dividends.

Winds have picked up considerably here. Running about 30Mph gusting to 40. Power blinked out for a few seconds, but still on right now.

just had the strongest gust
we just had the storngest gust--almost to 50 -- the rain is hard and we are concerned about the next high tide which will be around 5 p.m. and this will be close to when the storm approaches us--also this is one of the higher tides of the year..
