Doing ok here... lights are starting to blink on and off so figure we are gonna loose them soon, and have to switch over to the generator. Lots of rain and winds getting pretty gusty here. Cherry Point has reported winds running around 40 with gusts in the low 60's so we should be getting about the same. Sure feels like it too. Tried to go out and get some pics but stupid wind gust almost knocked me on me hiney so said forget that. Water is up over the docks in the NW Creek Marina and over the fishing piers in Fairfield Harbor timeshares (these are usually 18 to 20 inches above water). Just real nervous about the fact that they are saying the worst part of the flooding is yet to come and it will be dark. Much prefer to see what is comming my way.

Well...

Got out for a bit when things calmed down....saw a few trees down, yard mess will be dealt with tomorrow....Sunset Beach bridge open/Ocean Isle Beach Bridge was not when I was out. Some flooding in streets. Walked the Sunset Beach for a bit.....saw shingles on the beach but didn't see any major damage to homes.....

While the wind did howl most of the day....it was the rain....sheets and sheets of rain.......reminded me so very much of Floyd.

Ocean Isle Beach.....east end.....lost section of road.....

We are under a 6 pm to 6 am curfew.... Glad its gone, but prayers to all in her path! Stay safe!!

Neuse River out of its bank here near Fairfield Harbor and rising quickly. Husband went down there to look about 15 minutes ago and said it was standing and dry spot about a foot in front of where the water was up to and within a couple minutes he was standing in water. Over by the Windjammer Timeshares in Fairfield Harbor the water has come across the field and the road and into townhomes (about 300 ft)

I just got home from working in Wrightsville Beach. The homes fared well, with most of those damaged only having minor shingle damage, some siding here and there, and some gutters and soffits being removed. One house did have a 38-40 foot Sea Ray boat pay a visit through the back door, and if that wasn't enough, a sailboat decided it had to come to the party also. I'll have pictures available sometime in the next few days. (The house backed up to Banks Channel, a bay of sorts, and when the wind switched and came out of the west, it pushed all the water up into the backyards, and as luck would have it, two boats as well). Quite a few powerlines down, but most of the beach had it's power back on when I left. The main damage done to property, was to boats and docks. Several boats that had been anchored in Banks Channel had been seen adrift, heading towrds the inlet. Several that had not been removed were sunk at the docks, or went adrift. Piers and docks were also seriously damaged. (I have not seen waves like that in Banks Channel, EVER! 4 ft plus chop would be estimating on the small side). The beach strand itself was destroyed for the most part yesterday, and I didn't get a chance to look at it today. Other than that, some flooding here and there, and that was about the extent. If there's anything else, I'll have a more detailed report tomorrow, since I have to go in, in the mornig. But no matter how minimal it was, I still don't like driving around in those winds. Not to mention 15 plus hours of HARD rain. A a matter of fact, it's raining again at my house right now.
If anyone is planning on visiting Wrightsville Beach tomorrow to look at the beach, better make sure the bridge is open. We have a curfew tonight, which started at 6:00 and is suppose to end at 6 am, but that may change. Only residents are allowed to cross the bridge at this time.
