VERY interesting reading thru this thread now. I'm almost speechless, now over 2 weeks later...

Yeh, just about everything that was predicted to happen has It's kind of surreal actually. It's one thing to talk about this going on, but then to actually see it happen, unfold on a national and global scale... it's just surreal.

Actually the "Miami-New Orleans teleconnection" is well known.

Katrina - just north of Miami, just east of NO


Andrew - just south of Miami, west of NO


Betsy - south of Miami, just west of NO


1926 Great Miami hurricane - Miami, came in east to west across Lake Ponchartrain.


Four examples right off the bat I can think off, thankfully the teleconnection doesn't always work, but it's a pretty good bet that if a hurricane hits south FL (West Palm and southward) that it will make its final landfall around LA. The potential is there for one hurricane to flatten both cities (assuming NO gets rebuilt).

I predicted a double hit at the beginning of the season as well. Miami then New Orleans. When Katrina actually formed near the Bahamas, I already picked Ft Lauderdale as point of landfall. When Katrina was in the gulf and in the beginning everyone was saying Florida panhandle. I stuck to my guns and said it would be further west. And picked Grand Isle from the minute it crossed South Florida into the Gulf. The second landfall was just east of Grand Isle.

Yes I can. One that takes out everything in its path and it just skirts the coast causing major destruction.
