Greetings from ground zero.....

Finally got power back today in my little section of Pass Christian that remains.

In all my life, nearly 50 years and many hurricanes, I have never ever seen anything like this. I saw the Camille damage. Katrina put Camille to shame. I have walked to the edge of the water and looked back apon the land. What once use to be a beautiful coastline in now barren earth. TV does not do justice to the power of this storm. Sitting in Florida and watching TV we thought that we had dodged another one once Katrina had weakened to a Cat 3. Then we got home. I am lucky, my house is still livable. Just down the street there is nothing left. I feel for all of those whom have lost loved ones and their homes........MGC

I'm glad you're amongst us, MGC, and well!

I cannot even imagine the devastation - I have tv, but, I
suspect being there drives the nail home.

Having seen the aftermath of Camille up close and personal, I can vouch for your statement. Many of the pictures we are seeing in the media are horrific to say the least, but to drive/walk through total destruction for literally miles and miles "drives the nail home" for sure. Even though we have had wall to wall coverage it really is not imagineable how horrific it truly is until you see it up close and/or experience the true nightmare.

AS I have said over and over through the years, I would not wish it upon my worst enemy.

Hey MGC, glad to see you're safe and that they're starting to get power back in the Pass.. I lost my house in the Pass, so I'm staying with my parents in Biloxi.. I'm not sure what I'm going to do as far as rebuilding..
