Will Ophelia join Katrina in retirement???
This is just a quastion....Was there the kind of damage to cause Ophelia for retirment. I know some area's got between 8 to 15 inches of rain. In there is reports of bridges down/docks. In homes flooded. Do you think it is to that point for a retirment?

Likely not... I think if Katrina had not have happened, there would be a greater chance for Ophelia to be retired, but still not likely. I've not seen any damage estimates or reports of death, so I don't know for sure.
But the storm isn't over yet... It still poses a threat to New England and the Canadian Maritimes. Remember what Cat 1/2 Juan did in 2003? If Ophelia is a strong Storm or Hurricane when it hits there, it could be pretty bad.

Retirement should be for Hurricanes that cause 5 star distruction.Ex.Katrina,Andrew,Hugo,Camille,Charley,Ivan
Retireing hurricane names is the same as retireing Babe Ruth's jersey number.never to be used by someone else ever again beacuse in the world of baseball he is consider a (GOAT) greatest of all time.
In the case of Ophelia its consider a minor car scratch compared to what Katrina did also Katrina is a storm that will be talked about forever.Untold losses, unimaginable suffering, mind boggling distruction.

I say it won't be retired, but I'm wondering if some sort of special recognition should be given to it for having perhaps the most difficult to decipher storm track on record:
