Will Ophelia join Katrina in retirement???

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

They need to check that source one more time.

Disaster modeling firm AIR Worldwide said insured losses from Ophelia would not exceed $800 million

Final damages may total 1.3 - 1.6 billion? Hmm... and its still going to go through the maritimes (and it will probably be worse there than if a tropical storm of the same strength hit the lower US coast, since they don't build with storms in mind).

I'd like the source for that damage total.

If this was a billion dollar storm, then every storm that makes landfall has the potential to be a billion dollar storm. :(

If Ophelia gets retired, I will eat my hat for dinner.

If Ophelia gets retired, then Bret, Jose, and Maria/Nate (Norway) could be retired too...

If that is the case then Ophelia still wouldn't be retired, cause technically she didn't make landfall.

Let's just retire the entire list, even if we don't finish it!

Better yet, retire all 6 lists currently in place, and have all new names beginning next year!
