When you see army guys at your Walmart...

...then you know things aren't normal. I just came from my Walmart, and while it usually is a very busy store, I had never seen it so busy, even during the Christmas rush. Not to mention, on my way in there I caught those guys going in. There were about twenty of them, some of them with machine guns attached to their backs.

I ran into a lady from Chalmette (St. Bernard Parish) who lost everything. She reached out and gave me a hug. She was crying. I had to remind her that she was still alive. I wish I had a pic of her but I was so busy taking pics of those army guys (LOL) that I ran out of space in my camera

I take it you don't live in a town that has a military base attached to it.

After Ivan hit I remember seeing MPs all over the place. It was kind of scary but a relief knowing that they were there protecting us. :D

But our military down here were armed. I guess that is why it scared me a bit. Not that I was going to do anything.

Ooooh, LAwxgal, that would have gotten my undivided attention,
too! I hate to go to Walmart, anyway, and, I guess that I would have
turned to go back to the car, saying, "OK - there's gotta be a K-mart
or Target around here, somewhere..."

My friend had an observation about his New Orleans neighborhood:

Once in college I got home and a local news truck was parked in our lawn.
That started a running 'you know it's bad when...'joke with myself.

Well, you know it's bad when you're watching CHRISTIANE AMMANPOUR broadcast from your neighborhood.
