LONG BEACH MISSISSIPPI (KATRINA)
Just got back from mississippi..What a humbling experience..I went down with the men's ministry group from my church and helped remove trees and debris from yards. They were so grateful.A tree service quoted a lady $12,000 to cut down and remove her trees..We did it for free.At the end of the week the fire chief of Long Beach took us across the tracks to the beach. We drove for 2 miles up the coast.I t was very emotional. From the ocean inward for about 4 blocks, total devestation.I hope to never see anything like that again. They are just now letting some folks back in who live there..National guard are set up so no one can get through to the coast. We cried and we laughed with some of the residents there, and we prayed with them, I would of really liked to have seen Long Beach when it thrived, had to be beautiful.Food is being provided by the Southern Baptist Convention, the red cross and many others. Some have power and some don't.I know some say the Govt. took to long, but they really have it going really good down there..lots of help from different states.

Thanks for that report, carve! The news about the destruction makes me sad, but the fact that a lot of people are pitching in to help makes me gladdened and hopeful for the future.
