Since Katrina, high pressure has been dominating the gulf.....LOTS of sunshine and no rain. Therefore, for the past 3 weeks, the gulf has been warming up again.

way too dry IMO to allow for anything more than cat 3 ...JMO though

Water of W FL is cooler, but the rest of the GOM is around the same temp. as Aug 29.

Yes. The GOM is still very hot. I think it has cooled a degree if that!
