[quote="CronkPSU"]weird...wonder why they locked it, maybe they though rita would be here at 11 AM??
They locked it for good reason..go read for yourself. What's the significance of the center relocating to the north of the previous position? Will the 12z models include this relocation? Or will we need to wait for the 18z? Derek's track in the Tropical Analysis Forum is a little too close for comfort.

they dont operate that way, their job is to tell it the way they see it if they thought it was going to No they would have the track that direction.

Yesterday they were trying to consolidate threads on specific storms, so they were closing duplicate threads. Looks like this experiment failed
. Some people were defiantly opening their threads again even after the mods explained why.
This does not explain why the models and forecast thread is closed, though. Maybe just an oversight.

The thread was edited to delete someones religious expression.
I'm guessing the mod forgot to unlock it before leaving.
NHC is usually conservative in shifting it's 5 day track. Probably because the models uncertainty increases the further out you go. Maybe later on tonight they'll shade more of Louisiana in the Cone/Circle. More concerned with the short term track. How will this affect South Florida and Keys?
