It is forecasted to be a hurricane by the nhc and it is only about 600 miles from the keys moving at about 12 mph....that is only about 3 days away...people should prepare and be vigilant.

Read the pro met forum before freaking out. None of the pros are saying anything like what's being speculated here, except for possible Keys involvement.

SFL'ers need to keep vigilant and prepared as usual, but let's not start worrying until we're in the three day cone. Othewise we'll be nervous wrecks again just like last year.

OK, apologies. Some of you are in the 3 day cone.

Let's see what happens. Most of the pro forecasts I've read don't have it coming into S. Fl.

We should all be prepared regardless, just like we all should be all season long.

At least for those in Palm Beach/Northern Broward; no action is needed at all at this point.
Maybe... for Dade if the track adjusts north but at the last advisory; the track had been adjusted even south of The Keys.

Derek posted on the Analysis forum that this would be a Dade/Keys event and at this time; not Palm Beach. (not great news for you Southern Dade folks) Y'all might NOW get to understand how spooked we were up here at 2 storms in 3 weeks last year!!)

I do not feel that we are in the clear yet but will do nothing but watch for now...

I dont know the northern part probably has the most storms in it and it looks to be headed more NW for now so maybe it will come into the peninsula so Palm Beach would get some squalls from this.

I think much of the S part of the state will get rain and squalls even if it tracks as predicted. Right now I think I'd welcome a little rain. It's been dry here for weeks. Ophelia sucked up all our moisture and we haven't had our daily thunderstorms for what seems like forever. I'm out watering plants every night and most of my landscape is extremely drought-tolerant, so if it's wilting it's REALLY dry.

They have been issued for the FL Keys now, though not for the Miami area yet.

Sunday 9/18 11 a.m. -- Hurricane Watch issued for Florida Keys (Ocean Reef to Key West).

This will probably trigger advisory (not mandatory) evacuation of tourists.

SEE official advisories at NHC.

Hey robag, welcome. 2 storm2k'ers on Key Largo! Now I know we're gonna get hit.
<j/k>

I'm watching so closely too because there will be an evacuation at the sailing club (UKSC) if we get a warning.

I know some of the members of the sailing club. I suppose school will be closed Tuesday. Perhaps the schools will close early on Monday as well.

Well, being a Key Largo "weekender" on MM98 Bayside....As soon as I heard that Monroe Co. was meeting this morning (WFOR) we decided to call it a day (or weekend, rather) and headed out at 10am wanting to avoid any evac orders/traffic, not to mention all the motorcycles for the poker-run. Secured some furniture, but didn't shutter up. Will go back tomorrow if necessary. Hope not!
