This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Texas via South Florida climatology?

#1 Postby PTPatrick » Sun Sep 18, 2005 12:46 pm

Ok...I am just curious if there has ever been a stsorm that went into texas byway of Florida or the Keys...seems like most of those hit Louisiana eastward, while more of texas storms come from the carribeean via mexico, of the BOC. If you find some please post tracks...

Meanwhile, local met discusion out of mobile mentions a trough on wednesday that may create a weakness and cause a turn north(as it is exiting the Keys area)...so while I know most of the guidance holds ridge over the Northern gulf, folks up here should really pay attention to this too...at least until the storms is better organized and the models get a better handle on things in a couple days.

The intensity for the 1919 storm is way off. It was not a cat. 1 at landfall in Texas. I am not sure about the other ones.

Thats good to know S.FL storms will hardly ever reach Houston. I buying property in the Houston area, I will go there if I have to evacuate or if I actually loose my home here in a cat 5 or something.
