A wobble, as a correction from the original position. It has already shifted WNW, and recent frames have it more to the West. Unlikely to hit the Florida Peninsula, but could be a Cat1 or even a Cat 2 for the Keys.

The NW movement is due to a combination of the center relocating and Rita finding a subtle weakness between the mid Atlantic ridge and the ridge over the northern Gulf. In addition the ULL just south of Cuba has not moved as far SW as was predicted and the CC flow around it is helping Rita move more NW.

However, the northern Gulf ridge is expected to build eastward and a more W motion is expected in 12-24 hours.

Bottom line: N Palm beach is safe from this one.

S Palm Beach/Broward/Miami-Dade south should not let their guard down.

This shift to the West would be a good confirmation of the NHC track. Can you give us a link where you see it?

And we're in the cone currently too. I never feel safe until we're out of the cone personally.
