I am so sorry about all of this ticka! Children are one of God's greatest gifts and sometimes we under estimate them. Glad you told her the truth.
Miss Mary... IMO your Father was being quite selfish about the kitty cat. I was very lucky growing up because my Dad loved animals of any kind.
I do not know what I would do without my Golden Retriever (Bailey). He is only a year old and I feel like I have known him for years. He loves to go "Bye Bye"

Ticka I am so sorry to hear about your kitty
You really did do the best thing by telling your little girl the truth. I know how tough it is to loose a pet! Especially when you are a child, they seem to have extra special bonds with animals and the loss of a pet can be very heartbreaking indeed.
My father had to take our "Missy" (she was a greyhound) to be put down a few years ago, and it still grieves him to this day. I miss her very much, she was like my baby, and I know I will never replace her, but I now have a kitty I love to bits. Give it some time and your daughter will be glad your Kitty did not have to suffer in pain. Take care Ticka
