Breaking News: Return to New Orleans halted because of Rita

#1 Postby PTrackerLA » Mon Sep 19, 2005 3:43 pm

I think this was a great move by Mayor Nagin. He also advised those who returned to Algiers to prepare to evacuate again on Wednesday.

I agree. Just waiting to see how long they would procrastinate on it. Seems they don't want to take any chances which is a good thing. Like I said earlier once Rita enters the Gulf if she heads towards south LA she will only be three days away and that is not enough time for everyone to prepare and go out and get enough supplies. Traffic is horrible, stores are half empty with normal everyday groceries, and just about nothing of emergency supplies. Alos no hotel rooms to be found along gulf coast. If people think Katrina preparations were a pain just wait if a cat3/4 Rita takes aim on us.

You gotta understand that this storm didn't even exist when he started letting people back into the city. And he really only let 1/3 of city reopen, the parts that weren't hit to badly.

Supposedly a storm surge of just 3 feet could break the levees. A strike on Galveston could cause that  .

That's the I-10/I-110 split, off the Mississippi River bridge in Baton Rouge. It's pretty much looked like that for all but the wee hours of the morning for the last 3 weeks.

I'd have to agree. It isn't even as heavy as it will be in an hour or so during rush hour.

no hole was dug by Nagin. the polls and resignations have already shown who dug the biggest holes politically.
