Thank you to all of those who are helping us along the Coast

I keeping hearing over and over about how things are not being done but I think those people who are helping deserve a big Thank You! People are leaving their families for weekends to go down to make life a little more liveable for those who have lost everything.

And I think a big thank you for those who have lost everything but still manage to see the upper side of things. They are the ones who make us who do have our house, etc that life comes with ups and downs but we can make it.

Absolutely!

There's alot of heroes in the aftermath of Katrina from week-end warriors to the pros that do this on a daily basis. They should all feel very proud of themselves!

My husband was deployed to Alabama ahead of Katrina and withing 48 hours of the hurricane hitting was doing inspections in MS. People there have been grateful and it is heartwarming for me to know he is out there with MANY others making a difference especially in light of so much criticisim going around! He hopes to come home for Chrismas and with me having 2 small children that he is able to however I also realize that I am far better off than most of the people that were affected....they need so much and I am proud my husband is out there even though it is hard on me and my kids. I should be used to it by now though, he's been doing this for 7 years!!!

I'll second all the above!! From FEMA to MEMA, to the Salvation Army and the Red Cross, law enforcement from all over the U.S., and the hundreds of other volunteers who are now camped out (literally) in the area, my hat is off to all of you.

As an interesting side note, everyday now since about 3 days after the storm, the Salvation Army or Red Cross has been delivering hot meals for both lunch and dinner almost to our front door. They drive through the neighborhood asking anyone in sight if they'd like a hot meal and a cold drink! And if they don't see you out in the yard or up on the roof, they honk their horn and wait to see if you're home!! That really helps because in the middle of everything else, cooking food is often the last thing on anyone's mind. The response here has been wonderful - and there seems to be no end in sight to the great things they are all doing!!

I don't believe the response could have been any better...
