Rita west - Phillippe north - WHY?

#1 Postby southerngreen » Tue Sep 20, 2005 1:35 am

I've been watching these things churn and build for over a week, but haven't had a clear explanation why everyone (?) believe Phil will go north. What is to keep it from following dear Rita due West? Can someone 'splain it to me? 'Preciate it.

BTW - i'm glad they aren't coming anywhere near central florida, but oh man those poor folks in luziane & tex

and is it just me or do some of these storms have the wickedest faces???
:grrr:  scary....

Ophelia's extratropical remnant created a weakness in the ridge, allowing Philippe to move north. Rita developed too far west to move into this weakness.

in one of the last loops i watched it looked as though there was more westerly movement than north but perhaps not strong enough pull Philippe west. (sure hope not)
