Did I say something wrong or is it no one wants to just give me their opinion?
Just wondering.

I don't think we are in the clear because I see the ridge erosion at around the Ala/Miss border coming down from southern Georgia... I see Rita migrating towards it.

But, she still might continue on westard towards Texas and be the first major to hit the state since the 1950's you just never know about this season. However I wouldn't let my guard down just yet. I'm not taking my boards down until November.

Okay. Probably a dumb question. Guess after 45 years here I should know better as fickle as these things can be at times.

Hey Bama ... it's cool ... you know what they say: "the only dumb question is the one you DON'T ask."

Hey Bama, I think it's safe to say that we in the FL Panhandle/AL are pretty much in the clear and probably even MS but if I lived from NOLA west I would be taking this very serious at this point. All I know is that here in Panama City we haven't had any notable precipitation for about a month and we are in dire need of some rain. It doesn't look like we'll even get a "spit" from Rita as she is going to stay well to our south. [/b]

I've always been told to never let your guard down until the storm passes your longtitude. Most times I think thats a good rule...there are exceptions, but I think in this case its a good rule to follow.

I just asked the exact same question in another post. Ivan hater thinks we're probably OK also. No one knows for sure though. I think after Ivan, Dennis and Katrina we're just toooooo tired to want to worry about this one. We want to know NOW for sure that we're in the clear. It's like I can't go on with my life until I know. That's probably because, unfortunately, I'm a hurricane addict and I can't stay away from the computer like "normal" people do until I know beyond any doubt that my area is safe.

The last I heard was Dr.Bill said Texas. Personally I just don't see the high over us eroding to the point of pulling Rita anywhere east of Houston. But as my Grandfather Popeye always said "Boy as long as their south of you you've got to watchem close.
