Mandatory evacuation for Galveston Island?
Well the announcement could come later on today if a mandatory evacuation will be ordered. If not today then possibly in the morning. This brings up a very important question. A co-worker of mine said that if there is a mandatory evacuation then all exits on I-45N will be closed all the way up to Huntsville. I need to know if this is legit or not because I work on the north side of Houston right off of I-45. I live outside of Conroe so I take I-45N home everyday. I can't find any information online. I need to know if this is true because if so, I need to make preparations on what I need to do right now! Thanks.

I know that once the mandatory gets underway, Galvestonians will all be directed up I-45, Bayou Vista and Omega Bay will go up 6, and TX City/La Marque are supposed to head up 146.
Given that fact that this plan was just developed this year and we don't know how they're going to keep people from going other directions, it's anybody's guess how it will play out.
All I know is that I sure hope that if anyone needs to pull off to get more gas, they'll let them off at one of those exits. If we're in traffic as long as they say, I'm sure a tank of gas will burn up rather quickly compared to if we were driving 55 or better.
