I really dont think we can say until recon gets out there and gets new center. 12:30PM CST center was at 23.77N and 81.52W.

If indeed it has, are you still leaning towards and landfall well south of Houston?

They don't seem to. The 00z models should be quite interesting.

Stick with the NHC as far as speed, radar at distance is not a good tool for checking speed. just my thought.

What could be causing her to slow this early, if indeed she is slowing? Comments.

Sometimes a slow down in forward spped indicates a possible change in direction, Possibly beginning a northern turn earlier than expected???

You stick with your thoughts, I'll stick with mine. I say radar is not good as you have no way for a real center fix. Sat is just as bad with no eye to focus on. I will wait for Vortex fix and then let them decide for me. I have no doubt it could have slowed, however she is changing overall shape and to say for sure an exact amount she slowed, I think is a hard call. But, have your crow or look like an internet board hero for 10 minutes, either way is fine with me

A slow down could cause the trough/weakness in the high pressure to affect Rita more and cause her to make landfall further up the coast. Basically if she continues to slow that's not good for Louisiana I reckon.

Could it be just a wobble or that she is repositioning herself?
