Hurricane to threaten Hawaii!

There aren't any advisories on it by the NHC and I dont even know it's name but it appears to be heading staight for the Hawaiian island chain.

that's just major hurricane jova, it's the central pacific's responsibility, it's expected to be just northeast of the hawain islands as it weakens

It will weaken alot. The waters around hawaii arent warm enough to sustain a hurricane.

Iniki was able to hit the islands hard because it wasnt over the cold water for very long before it struck.

That is hurricane Jova. The advisories are being issued from the Central Pacific Hurricane Center, located out of Honolulu. The store is expected to go well north and east of the islands. The Central Pacific Hurricane Center began to issue advisories on this system after the hurricane crossed the 140*W line. Jova is currently packing winds of 105 MPH with a central pressure of 970 MB. The system is currently moving to the northwest at 8 MPH.

11 AM HST TUE SEP 20 2005

AT 11 AM HST...2100Z...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE JOVA WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 16.7 NORTH...LONGITUDE 145.3 WEST OR ABOUT 675 MILES
EAST-SOUTHEAST OF HILO HAWAII AND ABOUT 880 MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF
HONOLULU OAHU.

JOVA IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST NEAR 7 MPH AND THIS MOTION
IS EXPECTED TO CHANGE LITTLE OVER THE NEXT 12 HOURS.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 115 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS.
LITTLE CHANGE IN STRENGTH IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS.

HURRICANE FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 40 MILES FROM THE
CENTER...AND TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 185
MILES.

ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 960 MB...28.35 INCHES.

AT THIS TIME...HURRICANE JOVA IS STILL EXPECTED TO PASS
NORTHWESTWARD ABOUT 350 MILES EAST OF THE BIG ISLAND...BUT MAY
EVENTUALLY TAKE A MORE WESTERLY TRACK. THEREFORE...INTERESTS ON AND
NEAR THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS SHOULD MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS SYSTEM
OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

REPEATING THE 11 AM HST POSITION...16.7 N...145.3 W. MOVEMENT
TOWARD...WEST-NORTHWEST NEAR 7 MPH. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...115
