#1 Postby jinftl » Tue Sep 20, 2005 9:18 pm

Looks like pretty healthy outer feeder band about to make its way into Dade and Broward....

Yep...have been watching it on radar as well. It's been a little windy here this evening and it's raining again.

Based on the movement in the radar loop, wonder if there will be some training?

This far out from center not sure what kind of winds might be embedded in the band, but at the least we are about to get wet again.

Not sure what's in them either. We're watching a movie and the end of the Marlins game so I haven't heard anything lately.

As an aside, look how pretty and round her eye is looking: http://radar.weather.gov/radar/loop/DS.p19r0/si.kbyx.shtml

Agree, the eye is quite a sight.

From this radar perspective, looks like you have to go west of Key West to find concentrated cells as strong as the band approaching Dade and Broward (not sure if distance from radar is 'distorting' actually intensity though).

Just went out on the patio and it's not really windy at all...have had stronger winds in any given afternoon storm. The band looks like a nasty one though, so maybe there's still more coming.

Looks like the leading edge is approaching me in the eastern part of Fort Lauderdale....curious to see what's coming!

Enjoy it :) With the shutters up and the rain out there it's a good night for sleeping. LOL, seems the rest of the Dade/Broward contingency has gone to bed or away from their computers.

Yep, little pick up in breeze in last few minutes...hear first drops on window...who knows, get entrained in an outer band like this could result in a nasty burst arriving.....enough to wake some of our sleeping locals up!

Just a thought...even though the storm is pulling away from Dade and Broward, does the increase in strength and/or size mean the fringe bands might be stronger too, even though we are further from the eye than before.

CNN meteorologist projects 1 to 2 inches of rain per hour for the next four hours, with up to (obviously) 8 inches of total rainfall in Miami.

Here are 11pm conditions from National Weather Service in Miami....note Miami Beach still has sustained winds of 31 mph with a gust to 45mph...that was probably right when the band started to move through.
