10 more reasons to evacuate - 10 more images

All but one of these pictures are SOUTH of I-10 in Diamondhead.
4 miles North of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.

The pilings these homes WERE on are 10-12 feet high.

That last picture is of the Diamondhead Yacht Club. The base of the roof
is 35 feet in elevation.

If you are wondering if you should evacuate, review these, then
your decision should be pretty easy.

WOW is that over that whole area. How many miles inland?

It's anywhere from 1-4 miles inland. Ground elevations from 8 feet to 20
above MSL.

No doubt, DH, we've seen some sights that we'd have never imagined only a month ago!! I pray that all Texans who are anywhere NEAR the coast take extreme heed to the potential impact of this storm. The only hope seems to be cooler waters now in place just offshore...

That's because the bigger pine trees took the fall instead.

living among the pines I have noticed the younger pines seem pliable versus the older ones are stiff and stout.

GulfBreezzer , where you live in the gulf breeze area ? I moved from dowtown pensacola in May of 04 over to near Milton. New house had just a few months to get ready for Ivan.

She lives in Gulf Breeze very near my home. Another member told me she lives on a long road running parrallel to the water called Bay St. And she is right, that area looked like a bomb went off after Ivan. I was down there a few days after the storm and was amazed. Peoples stuff was hanging up in the trees about 15-20ft above the sea level. Obviously surge in MS was quite a bit higher but those pics bring back bad memories for me.

I was in Moss Point and Pascagoula today and was stunned by the damage I saw. I really dread the day I have to try to find patients in the diamondhead and Pass Christian area,

Those of you in the Rita path please get out. I ended up stuck here as my shelter area did not accept family at the last minute. I was terrified. It turned out OK for me but MANY others were not so lucky. The aftermath is also horrible. All you smell is rotting food, dead animals and fish.

The water was bad and the air stunk. No power, water, or food available. We left after 3 days and NO ONE was here yet. I had hurricane food, water and ice but the 2 y/o grandson would not eat the food I had. Both the GS and I ended up with severe bhronchitis and in the ER out of town

It is better to be out and wonder than in and unable to contact family to let them know you are safe. I was unable to contact my mom for 2 days and she thought we were dead.
