This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Humidity in Corpus Christi only 32%- will that help?

According to the weather channel website, Corpus Christi only has a humidity of 32% right now (Austin's is 29%), which is very dry air for a coastal town.

The pressure is falling in Austin, but is steady in Corpus Christi. I read the forecasted humidity level yesterday and it was forecast as being 42% for Austin, so it's significantly dryer than forecast yesterday.

One would hope that this dry air would weaken Rita as it nears land- it's about my only hope at this point. Is this a realistic hope? Not many people seem to be talking about the very dry air in Texas now.

If I'm not mistaken, relative humidity is a function of dewpoint temp to air temp. You've got dewpoints in the 60's at Corpus and the 50's further up the coast. That will change when Rita approaches.
