Even worse, they've been abysmally off on their intensity forecasts (no knock on NHC here, we don't have this down yet) and every recent wind speed chart has sent the wind speed down, and all have been wrong.

What can they do between now and the next vortex fix to save their prestige?

I'll have to think about that one.

That has more to do with how far the storm is expected to (and could) weaken after making landfall than with how much it's actually forecast to strengthen.

That has more to do with how far the storm is expected to (and could) weaken after making landfall than with how much it's actually forecast to strengthen.

No. The poster mentioned the inclusion of 205mph as the top of the probability scale, not the look of it being 'stretched' or what have you. :)
