No, the intensity has nothing to do with the interaction with the high. It wouldn't matter if she was at 200 kts. A hurricane is no match for a high pressure system.

I think that sometimes people tend to forget that the edges of high pressure systems are not clean lines--like a paper cut. The edges are ragged, like a paper tear. She's feeling her way along he edge of the high pressure system right now. She may head north for a bit, then west, then south, then north again. She's going to want to head poleward, and she will to the extent that the high pressure system will allow it. But don't for a minute think she is going to be able to overpower that high.

I don't think she's heading to LA. She'll make it further north than Freeport, I believe. But I'm thinking direct hit on Galveston, unfortunately. Perhaps as far north as Beaumont. But not LA.

The intensity of a cane can influence it's own direction because if it extends high enough in the atmosphere to steered by the 200 and 300 mb high rather than the normal 500mb high.

I cant see a Cat 5 at 25N in the central gulf headin NW for 3 hours, bend back WSW. Maybe its possible, i dont know. Maybe straighten out towards WNW until next weakness is found. There appears to be many.

You said earlier "it did wobble wnw, but it immediatly followed a wsw jog."...so which is it? So basically...you just verified that a storm near 25N at Cat 5 can jog WSW....and if you will look at a GHCC loop...you will notice it is moving DUE west again and the high is NW of it...and according to the current upper air...is still there.

Youa re really all over the map. First...you think it's LA bound. Then you think there is no way it's coming near GLS...now you say watch out LA.

You know..I believe you just like to argue and make negative comments to every post you can possibly find...you act like an 80 year old man who has to complain about everything everone says...and be constantly be negative...you remind me of the two old guys sitting in the Balcony of the Muppet Show.

Tell you what...when you can finally make up your mind...come back and talk to me about what I said about a "Slight jog (yes...should have read jog) to the WSW..." and I said "MAYBE."

AFM, Im sorry. Just a bit edgy.

And on queue its taking that wsw jog as we speak. CNN met just said models are underestimating ridge. Trust NHC, like I always say.

Good luck and take care.

Lets hope hp dome holds tight and forces Rita to Corpus.

We don't know where she's going right now. We're in the middle of the eclipse. The sat imagery is old.

Now I have a problem with you. Why the hell would you wish this to Corpus? I know that people that are not from this area think that all we have here is cows an sheep, but let me tell you there is a lot of PEOPLE. Lets not wish this anyplace but let the chips fall where they will. I have to tell yall Im stressed to the max, and the NHC has the path towards Galveston. God help us here in Texas.

Corpus Christi is a very beautiful city. I was there last month for a week, and honestly, I was surprised how big that city is....and still growing.

That remark is totally uncalled for. That is mean and vicious to wishcast Rita on someone else. Mean...just plain mean.

sorry you took it wrong. A hit in corpus is better than a hit in freeport. For more people. I did not mean anything personal. Its still bad but not as bad.

Dude, we are packed and will be leaving at 6AM. THe evacs would work better if those to the north would wait longer. That will give me 24+ hours to drive north.

im glad that you can say that...it just seemed like all day you tried to change your mind and argue with everyone...Now, that the ridge has weakend somewhat, the models will prolly go crazy. My best advice to anyone is watch what way the cane is moving and plot that along with the models...see how there doing...
