My friend just sent me something interesting...
Someone out there recorded what Walt was saying out in the jungle.. And then played it backwards. Here's where you can listen to what he says backwards:
http://www.angelfire.com/psy/bleedthesk ... kwards.mp3
You'll have to copy and paste it in a new window, otherwise it won't pop up. I can't make much out of it, but the first thing he says sounds like "Press the button" ... then can't make out the second.

I was going to mention Walt talking backwards. I read this on the Internet Movie Database Lost message board (which was BTW exploding late last night, I had to forcibly turn off my computer!). Check it out....you do have to 'join' and get yet another password, just to read topics and posts, but there is a message board for every current and past TV show and every movie. Seriously! I must read that site weekly for movie rentals, if a movie is worth the rental fee, to find out where I've seen an actor before, so much!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0411008/board/threads/
Thought I'd be without computer access for a few days but my daughter says the old computer I have should work. I can't wait to read everyone's responses today. She went off to school, talking about last night's show.
At first I thought Walt's dog ran away, to pull Shannon into the woods. So she could see Walt and hear his message. Then my daughter said no, the dog ran into the woods b/c Walt was there.
I don't think I have this episode on the DVR still, but who was the actor who played Hurley's friend in the Psych ward? Was it the same guy who's Desmond?
Fans on that imdb board keep focusing on Desmond's comment to Jack at the stadium - see you in another life or lifetime. And here they are - certainly not in the real world!
Mary
PS - huh? The Lost imdb board is temporarily shut down.....it was extremely busy last night. You'd blink and there'd be 10 new topics pop up, I couldn't keep up. So much better than ABC's Lost board........no wonder it went down! LOL

The show certainly lived up to it's reputation last night! I just can't imagine what that whole set up in the hatch is used for. Some major drug ring that has tentacles all over the world? (Because of the statue of Mary that was filled with drugs on the last show.) But, if it were a working communcations center, it wouldn't make sense that the French woman had that message going for all those years with no one saving her. Confusing. Guess I'll just have to be patient.
The scene with Walt really has me thinking. If Walt is on the island and it was not a vision, maybe Walt has met the stadium guy too. I wonder if somehow the stadium guy is going to somehow know Walt's dad. Every time I watch I end up with way more questions than answers, but that's why I love it!
Ps - Mary - I was trying to remember how the heist went down with Kate, but could not remember all the details. But I took Bob's suggestion to go to wikipedia and typed in Lost. They have a great synopsis of Kate's background. It gives a much clearer explanation than I ever could!!! She shot the supposed ringleader in the leg thinking he was going to shoot the bank manager. I say supposed because Kate was the mastermind of the plan. Looks like I am going to be doing some reading as I get time. Next stop - Locke. It's a great way to jog my memory!

Never thought of the drug connection before. That could make sense. But I've read posts elsewhere that point out a lot of items in Desmond's underground home were outdated - the computer, vinyl record instead of CD, an 8 track would have been hilarious, execute on the computer instead of enter, etc. But then he was whipping up a smoothie and apparently, the washer/dryer are models from just a few years ago, not a decade or more. Some inconsistency there.
I didn't think they'd encounter a person, I really thought they'd find an abandoned test site or shelter, having to piece together clues. Now they have someone they can ask questions of - but will Desmond cooperate. He has an Ethan-like quality to him, not trustworthy.
Another element I enjoy is seeing Kate struggle with trusting Jack's instincts 100%, as opposed to being pulled in Locke's direction. Not to mention Sawyer, if and when he returns. With Sawyer, it's more a romantic pull. With Locke it seems to be a fate-type pull. She wants to allign herself with Jack, b/c he represents a calm, sane world (but he met Desmond before this!) and she'd like to a part of that world. But Locke represents maybe her former way of life - taking chances.
I'm surprised Locke hasn't told anyone the wheelchair belonged to him and that he used to be paralyzed. There's a connection there - Sarah/Desmond/Locke/Jack = miracles?
Next......this show sure isn't predictable!

I didn't think of the connection between the miracles. Good call. Maybe Locke didn't mention that he was in a wheelchair for symbolic reasons. Maybe he felt like he wanted to leave that life behind him and that was his way of doing it. Nah...there has to be more, but that was my first thought.
Anyhow, maybe Desmond is into retro or someone lived there before him and he did not have the cash to get all new things.
I can't picture him cooperating. My first thought is that he was with "the others", but I guess he could be hiding from them for some reason.
I love Kate's character. I think she wants to be this really good person, but her past still beckons her. The fact that Jack and Locke are really not getting along with Kate in the middle seems like a good story line. Part of me wants a Kate and Jack romance, but Sawyer makes more sense.
The only thing that bugged me was Jack's uncaring response to Hurley, but it makes sense for his character. I am excited to see what Hurley's past is and why he was in a psych ward. Maybe Hurley worked in the medical profession as well. Maybe even the same hospital as jack and they just never realized it. Wouldn't that be wild?

I believe each survivor has their personal demons. Issues they're all dealing with. Some obvious - Kate. Some were private - Jin's wife. If think about it - none of them are happy go lucky types, or boring people. There's more to Hurley beneath all that extra weight and sweat. Same with Charlie - he kicked his heroin addiction and I want to believe he took the Mother Mary statue but not more heroin. He knows where to find it. Shannon appears very selfish at first but then you realize there's more to her too. The only one that might seem sunny would be Claire. She's just downright sweet.
So they're all in personal turmoil and maybe inter-connected too. Like you said Hurley could have past medical connections to Jack.
One funny side note - Jack's wig!! LOL I could barely get past the fact his hair was that long. But years ago, lots of guys wore their hair that long and we didn't think twice about it. It just looked funny on Jack. And speaking of hair, how is he able to keep his hair buzzed still? Mmmmm, or Kate - how is she able to pluck those eyebrows so thin? LOL

You are cracking me up!! Yeah..Jack's wig was kind of an eye catcher last night! I don't know what would keep his head shaved! Maybe he uses Locke's knives when Locke isn't looking. Eeew. I would hate to eat food that has been cut with that knife! And what about the perfect hair on the women? WHAT is their secret? My hair frizzes up in humidity no matter what I have access to. They have no styling products and their hair never frizzes -well except for the French woman!

Yeah, aside from dirty clothes, Kate's eyebrows and hair seem well plucked and remarkably clean! Even professionally groomed. I have a hairstyle that needs a blow dry, air dry makes me look frumpy (it's a bob/page boy kinda cut). Even Shannon's point cut kinda cut looks good!
Forgot one more comment from over at imdb someone mentioned - the SUV driver/man who died? His last name was Rutherford. That was Shannon's last name. I missed the complete episode where they showed her and Boone's back stories, but saw glimpses of it mid-year (when I was trying to understand this show!). Apparently her dad died in a car accident? So this was the man Sarah hit with her car? From a blowout? Again, fate......
They're all inter-connected is my best guess at this point.

Lost
After the big Emmy win on Sunday night, I have to admit that a small part of me way in the back of my head was worried that something that started out so strong couldn't possibly live up to expectations. Boy, was I wrong. The sophomore premiere had me scratching my head, jumping off my couch and literally left me begging for more. Desmond? So creepy. When we first saw him prepping for his race around the world, I thought for sure he was just another guy who was stuck on the flight, maybe from another part of the plane, who had somehow survived. But he's a retro throwback who injects himself with a strange drug that bears those mysterious numbers and is living in a hatch that is labeled "quarantine." That just can't be good. But how is that possible? It looks like he's been living a '70s or '80s lifestyle, with the ancient computer and the vinyl record albums, but he met Jack just a few years prior at the stadium, right? Is he the reason Jack is there? Hmm; I think someone's got a lot of explaining to do. Hurley, on the other hand, spilled his guts to the good doctor, and a heck of a lot of good it did him. But at least he had the best quote of the night: "Life's not so bad, right? Sure the Others are coming to, like, eat us all, and every once in a while someone blows up all over you, but you get to sleep in every morning." Nice to know that even when he's totally freaked out, Hugo can keep his priorities straight. I'd expect no less from the golf-course creator.
For all my fellow numbers junkies out there, didja notice that in addition to the injection label, the speedometer on the bike was at 16 mph; when Desmond stopped the safe it looked like it was at 42; the mural on the wall had a painted 108 (the total of all the numbers added together) and that the older person who died in the accident with Jack's future wife passed on at 8:15? Still don't have a clue what it all means, but that's OK. Give me that breathless confusion at the end of each episode and I'm cool with being a little oblivious. But if anyone out there was able to figure out what Walt — or figment Walt — was trying to say to Shannon, please let me know. That's something I was really curious about, but even playing it back repeatedly didn't help. Oh, and were any other East Coasters a little disturbed that the special report news that aired during the commercials was about an airplane that had to make an emergency landing? Weird timing, but glad their flight had a happier ending. — Angel Cohn

Well the new season started with a BANG and I must say I am still has Lost as I was in the first one
The image of Walt was done with mirrows or video....it wasn't really him. The "others" that took him probably have him hidden somewhere on the island and are sending out those pics of him.
We'll just have to wait and see what happens next week, maybe get one answer at least. I want to know what happened to those on the raft.

Here's a theory my daughter Laura keeps mentioning (and I haven't read it elsewhere): Desmond told Jack, in the stadium flahsback, he was training for a race around the world. At the time you thought he meant running. Now that he's living in the bunker, Laura thinks he meant race around the world on sailboats or ships. And he caught a ride with the group the French chick came in on. They landed and from there it's anyone's guess what happened next.
- Either her group got so violently sick, that Desmond holed himself up in this bunker, after the group discovered it was abandoned from a previous group (WW2 days?).
- Or they put him there to protect him.
This is where our theories fall apart. But Laura thinks he came to the island on the ship the French lady came in on.

I never thought of that, but it makes sense. You would still have to get in shape to race a boat around the world. Maybe Desmond painted the "quarantine" label on there himself an a safety measure to keep "the others" away. The next few weeks should reveal a lot. I just hope they don't kill off anyone on the raft -you just never know with that show.

Me too. I want all 4 to return. Especially Sawyer, his character was really growing on me. I see a possible romance between him and Kate. Although she knows she belongs with Jack, in the end. Jack's about to run into the girl from the airport bar soon. I've read she is on the island, with other survivors from the tail section maybe. It will be a 4 way romance, the two momen and Jack/Sawyer. Watch Sawyer go for this chick and Kate feel jealous! LOL
I'd like to see the Korean couple reunited. And she teach him to speak English. But here's a thought I had - they would the only two having potentionally unprotected you know what. Not sure if I can type that word here! How long would your Birth Control Rx last? It would run out sometime. Who travels with a 6 to 12 month supply? No one. Do men travel with a case of condoms? Who knows....LOL I've also wondered about Charlie and Claire. They'll have the same problem. And of course Shannon and Sayid - she would not want to get preggo! Not that girl.......
There is one question I'd like answered:
From the time the plane crashed last year until now, how much time, in our terms, has passed? I read somewhere 8 weeks. Is that true? If so, that would explain why they can still use their flashlights. At some point their batteries are going to die aren't they?

I'll have to ask my husband how much time has gone by. I honestly don't know.
As for the couples, I like your ideas. I am a huge fan of the Korean couple and it would be great for them to be reunited. Although they are not a couple, I know I will cry when (if) Walt and his dog are reunited too! I'm not normally a crying type, but something about a kid and his dog does it every time!!
The potential for couples to become closer poses an interesting situation, like you said. Maybe there is some sort of tree or fish they could use to make "supplies"
... I can just imagine the 48 survivors having this serious meeting about what they need to make to keep surviving and that topic comes up. Could be some comic relief...like the halloween episode of Everybody Loves Raymond - where Frank passes out "candy" to kids!! But it would be difficutl to do it tastefully.

Yeah, maybe there will be a big announcement - please hand over any condoms you have in your luggage. Please don't be shy. Unless you want more survivors than we already have, it's your duty to share.
Hurley steps forward, tossing a box into the middle of the gruou, saying - Dude, it's not like I'm going to using these anytime soon!
Then all the women, Kate to Claire to Sun, but definitely not Shannon, all say - awwwwww........pity s*x......mmmm, think I'll pass on that one.
