The motels may say they don't accept pets ---- but most do in an emergency. Sneak the pet in and dare them to discharge you if they find out. Everyone sticks together in times like this --- and normally motels are included (although they don't advertise it)

Put us down as a yes. However, one of our dogs is terrified of cats, but if it means a pet is safe and warm, we can try to figure something out. I wish I lived closer so I could be of more help. I can't see you all drving this far or maybe we could each drive halfway, but pm me if you need our help.

Just a tip -- all Motel 6 locations accept a "one well behaved pet." I've taken my dog on three evacuation trips now to various Motel 6s. Tell them when you check in that you have a pet, some charge a $10 fee for the pet.

Motel 6 are mostly basic, cheap accommodations. Studio 6 locations have small kitchenettes in the room. It worked out great for my Rita evacuation this week.

Jes is absolutely right. When Dennis was headed this way...we made reservations with a hotel that said they didn't accept pets..( we have 5 dogs) BUT...the manager on duty when my husband called to make the reservations said " What I don't see I don't know about" In other words..sneak em in lol. We did just that.

I'm in Miami and cannot help directly, but I think this is a wonderful idea. My wife and I have discussed what to do with our pets if we have to bail out and my heart feels for all of having to face this choice. God bless all of you and may St. Francis watch over our beloved animals.
