it looks like Rita has her eye on Louisiana. Check the weakness just to her north and the extremely dry surge to the west and NW:

I tend to agree. Now if I am wrong and I so hope that I am, I will have my crow fried please. I think she is Louisiana bound, central Louisiana in my opinion. Hate to disagree with the NHC, they have been great this season, however I feel they will shift a little more east with time. Latest GFS has Rita approaching the LA coast near the TX/LA line, but I think with the current movement that things may change a little on the next run. Just my two cents........Hope I'm wrong, but if I lived anywhere from Galveston to N.O. I would certainly keep a close eye out.

I knew this was gonna happen. Our local met who has been using a model (Weatherscope) in conjunction with the NCSU meteorological dept said that it was always further north of the NWS predictions. It did move west to get closer to the nws predictions in the coming days but has not had its eye off on Louisiana. I distinctly remember this model predicting with incredible accuracy the hurricane landfall of several NC hurricanes of the recent past.

just sayin...FOX NEWS has one of their dopey anchors from Fox & Friends do the weather in the morning, not even a met. I have the feeling that as far as forecasting and projected movement of weather goes, FOX NEWS on-air people read the accuweather provided teleprompter (correct me if they obtain weather from another source then accuweather), so I would take a FOX NEWS on-air personality's opinion on Rita's movement with a grain of salt. Now, as far as FOX's coverage of debris whizzing by Geraldo's head and Shep Smith's reporting on devastation after the fact goes, well, they rock...
