to get comfortable. Just because Rita is not a Cat 5 does not mean she is still not a dangerous hurricane. If you were getting ready to leave and hear that Rita is weaker, do not take this as a sign to stay. We all saw the destruction at Cat 4 can do with Katrina. Everyone please stay safe and smart, our prayers are with you. :D

Rita will more than likely carry Cat 5+ surge even if she weakens to a 3 or a strong 2. As you saw with Ivan and Katrina, surge caused a lot of damage.

AMEN to that... I would like to meet the individual who can stand outside and tell me the difference between 140 MpH winds and 160 MpH winds. Please for the love of God dont become complacent with the weakening trend.
