that da-- storm is ramping up again!!!! Western semicircle is REALLY getting it's act together again. The GFDL better be wrong or I feel like I'm in real trouble wind wise here in nw harris county.

Hasn't gfdl been real good 48 hours out with storms this year?

GFDL model is old (just out, but 6 hours old),Rita is well east of next forecast point. I think Nagin is looking like a genius for not letting people back into NOLA.

In NW Harris County, you are better off hunkering down and hoping for the best right now, rather than risking getting out on the highways at this time. If you were in SE Harris, the advice would be reversed.

Stay steady, you could be in for quite a ride. I'll be thinking of you.

I'm in SE harris county and have car loaded, but at this point we are not planning on going anywhere. 4AM tomorrow is the latest we would leave.

You are not serious are you? Nagin only started the re-evac of NOLA after the President asked repeatedly

I have found when evacuating from New Orleans, that I have pretty good luck leaving at about 2:30-3:00 AM. I left on Sunday morning at 2:30 the day before Katrina, and there wasn't any traffic. However, I heard there was a lot late Saturday afternoon and by 8 AM Sunday morning it was terrible.

Nagin is no genius by any means. He was going to bring 180,00 + people back into NO until Adm. Thad Allen and President Bush stepped up and said, "That is not a very wise decision. " and both of them told him it could be very problematic in more ways than one. Nagin wanted to hear JAZZ in NO not helicopters. But since he now has his family in a new home in Dallas, maybe he was confused about where he was.
I feel really sorry for all the people in NOLA...they have been thru more than their share. But Nagin, I have no sympathy for at all. He can not get the people he allowed back in to leave now. And that is very sad. :cry:

The folks Nagin wanted to let in would be at little risk for Rita. Rita's surge in NO will be far less than Katrina's and Nagin only wanted to let in the people who's houses had stayed dry in Katrina. Those people wouldn't be filling up shelters we need for Houston evacuees.

An ADMIN better step in because this is headed towards a BUSH vs. ANTI-BUSH topic...


OT - this storm has reorganized and we should see a steady state strength-wise for Rita unless she has plans of defying all historical trends (which she may have already done).

Nagin is a Dumb*** ! I also think Blank- o is just a joke... Its sad that we as Louisianaians have her as a Governor !! :roll:

Rita is looking stronger again. It doesn't look like a NO threat however. Still Texas bound.
