Grand Isle in the past 15 minutes got blasted by 90 mph gusts.
This is quite incredible considering how far away the storm is. The NHC was dead wrong on the wind field of this storm. A hurricane warning should have been placed in SELA this morning. There is still not one, even with these winds!!!

LSU - Have you been able to verify this info from any other source? Also, do you know if Grand Isle was evacuated for Rita?

Sustained 29, gusting to 90? Gusts are hardly that far above sustained winds, especially when sustained is that low.
Not to mention there has been NO report on this by NHC or any media outlet. I just don't buy it right now.

Why is every station on the coast of SELA giving this information if it is incorrect? If one or even two stations were doing this, you might have a point, but all of them. And I've been watching these areas for the past two hours -- the gusts have consistently climbed from 40 to 50 to 70, back to 60, and now up to 90.

I'd like to know their source, because that data is not appearing on the NWS hourly data reports nor on their website. They show those stations as not available or not reporting.
