Outage

#1 Postby mf_dolphin » Fri Sep 23, 2005 9:16 pm

I sincerely apologize for the outage at this critical time. Unfortunately our datacenter had an internet outage. The server was up the whole time we just couldn't get to it. As soon as I know any more information I'll post it here.

I wasn't aware that Chat was available except through this site. I was really laughing when I read MB's post. I did pretty much the same. Also, emailed all the "girls" to see if they were able to get on.

Chat is now bookmarked TWICE-just in case. Thanks, guys, for working so hard to get us back up and running before any major damage was done!!!

I did a traceroute on the storm2K server...
It shows that the main internet provider routers are in Houston!

The company that provides the actual service is listed as being in Beverly Hills, CA... so the IP adress for storm2K is listed as Beverly Hills, CA if you do a "geolocation" on the IP adress.. probably just because of who owns the IP number!...
but if you do a traceroute... I find ev1.net and the last major router number (you know, the webhosts ISP service) is in Plantersville, TX with the backbone provider being Above.net..who's main presence is in Houston!

So, an outage isn't surprising...
the fact the hardware is running and giving us this great site through most of the situation is!!

3 cheers for the webserver's hardware hotel!
