How many more named systems 2005 will have?

#1 Postby cycloneye » Sat Sep 24, 2005 6:12 am

My opinion is that 5 more named systems will form during the rest of the 2005 season that can be subtropical or tropical in the westcentral atlantic, and some formations in the Caribbean.

Wow Luis! I hope you are wrong (I voted 3...because one looks ready for a possible now and still more potential out there)! I'll be off island half of October taking care of a friend in the states and maybe longer than that if plans need to change. I'd really like to come back to Culebra being here 8-)

So far the NE Caribbean islands has been untouched by any storms or canes and I hope that it continues that way until november 30th.

4 - one forming in late September, lasting into early October, two more in October, and one final one in November.

If my predictions hold true, then we will make it to Wilma and tie 1933, but fall short of breaking a record and going into the Greek alphabet.

I would say 7. One the last week of this month, four in October, and two in November. Hopefully, none of these will get into the Gulf or Carribbean, but I doubt it.

Probably 1 or 2 more systems before the season is over.

The season WILL wind down---heat energy is not limitless. The best guess would be another 2-3 storms, and then shut down. Remember, this season has had heavy activity for 4 months, and that can not continue. I would think one more cane, and a couple of tropical or subtropical storms, and that would be it. Thinking that there will be 7 more storms is being scientifically naive. 1995 didn't last forever, and this year won't, as well.

I say 6 more, I hope it dosn't happen, but all of the charactics are that this season could be a record breaker. I see, one storm forming next week, then 3 more in October, then 2 more in November.

Also, I think we arent done with Cat 4's and 5's. I think 2 of them will become a cat 4 or 5, 2 more as a hurricane, and 1 more a trop. storm, and a subtropical storm.

This is something that I hope dosen't happen

I say about 3 in October, but I would not be surprised to see one in November. October is probably equavalent to July which has been active.

I think two of them may come this week---the remnant of Phillippe/invest 98, which will go out to sea, and possibly the low tracker off Cape Verde now. The Cape Verde one may be another Emily---Bay of Campeche area, into Mexico. I think US landfalls are hopefully going to be shut off, and October will be more quiet than June, as cold fronts will come down, and drop the SST temps fairly soon.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were 6 or even more named storms (since tropical storms count too) but maybe only 3 or 4 of them reach Hurricane status, probably 1 or 2 cat 3 or higher. Just my guess though.

What's the MJO for Atlantic going to be in late October? Perhaps the moisture or lack or moisture will be the determining factor...this summer's dry cycle of MJO sure seemed to shut things down...however briefly. Recall all those posts about the season being over, a "dud" etc.?

I predict 5 more named storms. I think we'll see at least one west to east Cat 1-2 into the SW coast of Florida, like an Irene 1999 (or was it '98?).

I just hope Tampa doesn't get a taste.

Irene hit south florida in 1999. Gosh I hated the flooding it left behind....

Expecting five or more, and maybe one more before the end of the month due to the wet MJO phase being in the basin.
