Galveston's West End?
Any word on Galveston's west end - Pirates Beach and west. I heard one report on none to minor damage.

I wouldn't really expect much damage there at all. There's really not a whole lot down there to be damaged. What things are there are all up on stilts. I would have expected them to get some surge, since there is no seawall at that end of the island. But surely the surge would have been relatively minor there.

I drove through Surfside earlier. Usually we have about as much surge/flooding as the west end, and we had little to no surge and no damage. Earlier some of the reports looked as if there may have been problems. But Frances/Fay and Claudette were far worse.
I feel for our neighbors on the La/Tx border. But three days ago the prospect of Surfside through the West end, of being literally "wiped" of the map were a real possibility.
