^ The man said I was -removed-; wishing for the next big Hurricane if I have the definition correct. Why would I want to wish thousands to die in a hurricane for my own personal enjoyment? I take offense with that which is why I may have let a personal attack slip. I'm also a noob and while I've been learning a great deal about the weather and tropics from this forum, one simply cannot learn eveerything within the span of two days. If I ask a silly question which you all know the answer to, please forigve me and point me in the right direction. But I feel that outright attacking is counter-productive.
I heard in another thread that another tropical storm may develop. And may be heading for Florida, hence the creation of this thread. I was not -removed- or anything.
Sorry to anyone I may have offended in this thread. It was not my intention.

I didn't see anything you stated in your first post that should have offended anyone. Don't sweat it. You were not -removed- but asking a simple question. The post by Mr. Bass is the only one in this thread that you need to pay attention to. The rest is just ground clutter (including mine).

instead of attacking people who ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT!!
Well, for your information, "You people from Va." yes I am..but what does does that have to do with anything... No I dont live along the coast, 30 miles away.. However, I chase these things if you didnt see or bother to check before you make some smart comment. Why does he have to say where he is from... The poster stated that they did not know much about hurricanes of weather in general and thats why they asked... Its people like you that ruin the board..
And quiet frankly, I guess you have not read the TWO... They have mentioned that there is another area to watch near Bermuda for about a day now.. If that does not warrent a question about a possible development and threat by someone who may not know, then what use is this board... If you dont like the question, dont read the thread.. period, and dont comment... Leave that to someone who KNOWS what they are talking about, or atleast can READ between the lines..
And whats the comment about Ophelia?? Not sure where that came from... Looks like YOU need to stick to the content of the thread or on the storm at hand.. Since the first posters question did not conform to the thoughts that they should stick to just Rita???

I agree with Rainband, everyone is, understandably, a bit on edge.
As to newbies here (which I am one)... whenever I read threads, I apply a measuring stick to the influence/authority I feel from each post. That measuring stick is how long the poster has belonged to the board, and how many posts they've made. This is sort of human nature, people have to get to know you before they understand the nuances of the posts.
And, it's an indisputable fact that when tropical weather is on the news, the 'troller' come out of the woodwork and join the board, making gazillions of new posts right when many are having trouble accessing the board for very serious needs, and traffic is out of control. So if sometimes we assume a newbie is exactly that, please forgive us our hardened attitude. I know it's not fair...
For new members during this busy time, it might be wise to do more reading, use the storm2k weather links to find information, and try very, very hard not to create new posts. JMHO
Edit: I didn't mean "new posts", I meant "new threads", sorry!

Aqua, I sure hope there isnt anything lurking in the tropics right now. I was wondering the same thing. Glad you were brave enough to ask
With all the focus on Rita, there isnt much coverage about the rest of the tropics. This is my favorite weather site, but I have to shake my head when those personal attacks plunge out of nowhere.

Excellent post, I lurked her for a month before even joining the board. I read first before making posts. The only thread I have ever made was the Wind Prob of 205mph when she was rated at 175mph.bvigal wrote:I agree with Rainband, everyone is, understandably, a bit on edge.

bvigal, try not creating new posts only applies to the posts already on the board for a certain storm. If someone asks a question, or posts a comment about that spacific storm and it is already on the board, the mods have asked to limit that type of thing here... Not asking a question about something entirely different about another part of the tropics... Like I said, this is the tropical fourm,, not the Rita fourm and the first poster did nothing wrong... They should not have called anyone an idiot, but to suggest they were -removed- is just as ignorant IMO. It was unfounded and uncalled for. If you dont want to read any other posts than the Rita posts, then dont click on it.. Period.. Its that simple.
Apparantly some people on here have not bothered to read the Outlooks.. I am sure it is posted on here somewhere within the Storm2k fourm, but here it is just incase you missed it..

WOW... I worked last night and I guess I missed this. I am not trying to get into this fiasco here.... But...
The original post by the Aqua Teen....1. Aqua is new, but I have seen a few of his/her posts. Basically from someone who is trying to learn(Yes, we have all been there) and is asking questions. Remember, the only dumb question is the one that isn't asked.
As for what he/she was referring to in the original post, there were several threads before Rita actually hit, about Phillip and his tail, per JoeB site, something about Bermuda, ect... Since the "search" feature was disabled last I checked, and with all of the new posts regarding Rita, it might be hard to find these exact threads.
As for reading the discussions, if someone is new to the boards, they may not know how to find them, where to find them, ect... Heck, I still have trouble!! Fortunately, when I joined the board, I had alot of very friendly and very patient people helping me out. And still I get all confused. I could explain how I get this way, but then it would affirm the fact I am a dumb blonde at times.
As for "-removed-" or calling someone a "wishcaster". no offense MsBee...But last year I thought one would get banned for calling another this. Secondly, although there is no profile for AquaTeen, he/she made the point of mentioning concern about Fla, so I am going to assume either there is family or that is the home state.
I understand that the stress levels for those along the gulf coast is high.
And for those of us who have "board" friends out there, we worry about them all. And yes, I am worried......But I don't think this is the time for any of us to lose our patience with new people. The more people who come here wanting to learn something, the more informed the general public becomes.
As for Aqua Teen, I wish I knew more and I would answer your questions. I don't. But I do have tons of links if you need any. Feel free to PM and I will send them to you. And just a little bit of advise.....
It is much easier to ignore someone calling names then to say something back.....Someone will always support you.
