A Little Child

I wrote this tonight.. and just wanted us to stop and ponder a moment.

Little Child
Christine Lyons

Little child,
so innocent and sweet.
You walk down the street
with dirt on bare feet.

Little child ,
as you move here and there,
you take each step
with gingerly care.

Little child,
with grit in your hair.
You look for home,
how did it fare?

Little child,
with tears on your face.
You find your home
in a different place.

Little child,
as you run in the clutter.
You grab something up
and your body does shudder.

Little child,
what do you hold there?
A salt crusted bear
in it's belly a tear.

Little child,
standing there all alone.
Cluching your bear,
in what once was your home.

*hugs* It's a sad poem for a sad situation... thankyou for sharing your feelings as it lets me know it's worth. Even uncomfortable writings have their place.

Very nice. Before you share it elsewhere I beleive in the fifth line the word would be shudder and not shutter.

Also, "fair" in the third stanza should be changed to "fare." :)
