INVEST.98L, by the way, is the system that absorbed Philippe. Here it is on infra-red imagery...

INVEST.98L is now developing better convective activity.

This is the thread to discuss INVEST.98L.

Is there not already a thread for this invest?

That thread was a thread a person started to find out if there was any tropical activity out there, not a specific thread just for INVEST.98L. That is why I started this thread.

I'm sorry, I just looked at the thread name "Invest.98, Comments, Sat Pics, Models, etc." Maybe it just looked official.

It seems to have gotten better organized. A large flare up of convection has formed. I wonder if we might just get stan?

Centerd at 34.5/59.5 west moving slowly to the northeast. There seems to be a recoupling of the mid to low levels...With increasing convection. It would not take alot to make it a depression.

It is now a little less organized, but may easily have potential to become a depression due to fairly good convective activity.

Here it is on visible imagery.

An subtropical storm might be possible or an extratropical system might form.

Here is the latest Tropical Weather Outlook issued by the NHC. There is information here on INVEST.98L.

TWOAT
TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
1130 AM EDT SUN SEP 25 2005

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

THE HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL PREDICTION CENTER IS ISSUING ADVISORIES ON
TROPICAL DEPRESSION RITA...LOCATED ABOUT 40 MILES NORTHEAST OF
LITTLE ROCK ARKANSAS.

THE BROAD AND COMPLEX LOW PRESSURE AREA CENTERED ABOUT 400 MILES
EAST OF BERMUDA CONTINUES TO MERGE WITH A COLD FRONT...AND THE
POTENTIAL OF THE SYSTEM TO BECOME A TROPICAL OR SUBTROPICAL CYCLONE
HAS DECREASED.

AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE CENTERED ABOUT 800 MILES WEST-SOUTHWEST
OF THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS REMAINS POORLY ORGANIZED... WITH LIMITED
SHOWER ACTIVITY. UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE CURRENTLY NOT CONDUCIVE FOR
TROPICAL CYCLONE DEVELOPMENT... BUT THEY COULD WEAKEN SOMEWHAT AND
ALLOW FOR SOME GRADUAL DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM AS IT MOVES
WEST-NORTHWESTWARD DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.

SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE SOUTHEASTERN CARIBBEAN
SEA ARE ASSOCIATED WITH A WESTWARD-MOVING TROPICAL WAVE. PRESSURES
ARE NOT FALLING OVER THIS AREA...AND ANY DEVELOPMENT IS LIKELY TO
BE SLOW TO OCCUR.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL STORM FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED THROUGH
MONDAY.

PUBLIC ADVISORIES ON TROPICAL DEPRESSION RITA CAN BE FOUND UNDER
AWIPS HEADER TCPAT3 AND WMO HEADER WTNT33 KWNH.

Apparently, the chances of INVEST.98L developing into anything tropical or subtropical has gotten less; still, it could still become a vigorous extratropical low-pressure system.
