I recall hearing "Bad Moon Rising" being played on the radio last year when I was putting up my hurricane shutters for Frances. It was kinda creepy hearing it played as I put the shutters up and I looked to the east and you could see the full moon rising on the horizon as the wind was just starting to pick up.

There is a local artist from here in East Coast Florida. I believe his name is Ric Glass and he has a song called Premature Evacuation. It is a comedy song but it has a catchy caribbean tune to it and it details all the ups and downs of hurricane season.

Lake Charles / Lucinda Williams
He had a reason to get back to Lake Charles
He used to talk about it
He'd just go on and on
He always said Louisiana
Was where he felt at home
He was born in Nacogdoches
That's in East Texas
Not far from the border
But he liked to tell everybody
He was from Lake Charles
Did an angel whisper in your ear
And hold you close and take away your fear
In those long last moments
We used to drive
Thru Lafayette and Baton Rouge
In a yellow El Camino
Listening to Howling Wolf
He liked to stop in Lake Charles
'Cause that's the place he loved
Did you run about as far as you could go
Down a Louisiana highway
Across Lake Pontchartrain
Now your soul is in Lake Charles
No matter what they say
Did an angel whisper in your ear
And hold you close and take away your fear
In those long last moments
An old Randy Newman song covered by the great Aaron Neville that moves me to tears now when I hear it...
Louisiana 1927 / Randy Newman
What has happened down here is the winds have changed
Clouds roll in from the north and it started to rain
Rained real hard and it rained for a real long time
Six feet of water in the streets of Evangeline
The river rose all day
The river rose all night
Some people got lost in the flood
Some people got away alright
The river have busted through clear down to Plaquemines
Six feet of water in the streets of Evangeline
Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
President Coolidge came down in a railroad train
With a little fat man with a note-pad in his hand
The president say, ''Little fat man isn't it a shame
What the river has done to this poor crackers land."
