Germany sends more experts to help pump out New Orleans

09:15 AM CDT on Thursday, September 29, 2005

Associated Press

BERLIN -- The German government said today it is sending another team of experts to help pump New Orleans dry after hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

The 39-member team from a state-run aid agency left today from Frankfurt.

The Interior Ministry said it's replacing the existing team of German experts after the U.S. government asked for Germany to extend its mission.

The Germans' 15 high-performance pumps have been at work around the clock for the past 21 days.
