Radio contests...

#1 Postby therock1811 » Thu Sep 29, 2005 7:24 am

How many of our members have entered radio contests? Did you win?

I was just on WRRM 98.5FM's morning "Battle of the Sexes" contest. I didn't win, but was runner up. So, I got a prize pack from a local restaurant. It was fun, and something I'd do again.

Jeremy - congrats. Runner up is pretty darn good! Enjoy your prize......

A funny thing about this.....years ago at the doctor's office I worked at, someone put their name in for a radio contest. That person was on vacation or sick that day. Forget which. The radio called, and since I was the receptionist, I answered. I explained that Jane Doe was not available. That's okay, what is your name? Can YOU answer this trivia question for us.....I thought, oh why not. I answered correctly, whatever it was, LOL. I won a free brunch for two to a now closed restaurant in downtown Cincinnati, with a revolving floor. A top one of the leading hotels back then (mid 80s). I took my mom out for brunch, for her BD and muttered during our meal - you know, technically Jane Doe should be sitting here. Jane Doe told me I earned it so I should keep the prize. Wonder if she had said that if she has won money? LOL

My memory is really going....I don't even remember the coworker's name. But I remember winning a contest I didn't even enter!

Especially if you're talking about going up against someone who probably knew what a phlox was. I didn't. And the sad part is, that was the 1 point question.

Yes congrats. Exciting stuff. When I was in the 5th or 6th grade our local radio station had a contest to win concert tickets to see Genisus. It was called Dan Dan the ticket man. They would drop clues here and there to where he was. Object was to find him somewhere in town. Just so happens he was at the Texaco(then a tennaco), down the street from my house. My dad and I went down the street to the Tennaco and asked the guy, which you had to do, are you Dan Dan the ticket man? And he was. So we got 2 tickets to go see Genisus. It was very exciting and I will never forget that. It is the only thing I have every won in my life to date. :D

GREAT thread Jeremy  Funny you should bring this up......I won LAST Thursday on a trivia question "The old cowboy is trying to BBQ this, it's *white and tasty, soft and chewy* what is it?" *hint* it comes from "down under"!

NOW...I won a dvd a bolo tie, I enter radio contests ALL time with our local country station *KSNX*, I've won prizes a total of 3 times over the past year!

I've won "Bat Wings" (during the "Batman" craze of the 60's), three 45 rpm records and a concert ticket via radio...by television, three first-run movie tickets with dinners thrown in.

All were of the "If you're the tenth caller" routine.

You will. Give him time...he's an Investigator with his local PD...he stays really busy, but he'll get to it when he can.
