TROPICS ARE QUIET

The wave in the Caribbean looks very disorganized and considering all the models are all showing the wave moving over the Yucatan it doesnt even have a chance to even form once it emerges off the other side. I thought some of the waves that came off the coast of Africa in the central Atlantic might hold together as well. They are looking very unhealthy also at the moment. They are now just little balls of convection that seem to be dying out. There is too much dry air out there in little pockets to give to give these waves any fuel to work with especially in the GOM. You have to understand that this cold dry air coming in place now from consistent fronts that are always moving off the East coast will tear any storm up even if it was a major Hurricane. Fall is coming. I live in N.C. and our low tonight is going to be 50 and Friday night 49. Even our highs that were ranging from the high 80s to sometimes mid 90s are going down to the low 70s now. Fall will be coming in very soon and with that there will be less storms out there to develop and if they do threaten any land they will weaken quite a bit before landfall. I live in Tampa and I just finished mowing the yard and almost passed out. Its hot hot hot and humid. Fall is a long way off for us. I'm sure the GOM is still very hot. My last prayer at night is please no more land falling storms this year.

Things can change quickly, as we've seen, but, since the majority of past hurricane seasons have ended in early or mid October, hopefully this year will do the same, meaning that we only have two weeks or so left to the active portion of the season.

I really wish that the tropical season was over, but

Looking at those heat contents across the carribean and a
relentless Florida heat heating up the GOM, I think the tropical season
is far from over.
None of these cold fronts are diving far south enough into the
GOM in order to lower ssts, especially in the Southern GOM.

I wish we had a monster front cooling us down in FL and cooling
all the SSTs down in the oceans.

I was just interested in what everybody thought especially the hardcore ones who want these big storms to form and act like they are hurricane experts like the great people we have working at the NHC and get mad when they are teased with storms they think for sure will develop with their expert forecasting and the storms end up dying out. I am very glad that this crazy season is coming to a hault. We all need it. Lets hope nobody else will not see a Katrina or Rita for the rest of this season. PEACE!!!

As we all know, what would soon be Katrina formed off the SE Florida coast on August 23, 2005. Here are some posts on this very bulletin board on August 21 and 22, 2005 (names withheld to protect the guilty):

There is lots of activity off Cuba right now....it hard to see if it is going to come to anything at the moment...but it isn't October yet and as the season progresses the hurricanes tend to drift south ie more likely to hit the Fl keys than higher up the east coast.
