Do you mean (a) the US will shut down Al Jazeera?, and (2) that the US will make friends with the French after Chirac either resigns, or is thrown out in a vote of "no confidence? :?:

1. Dick Cheney will resign...probably due to health issues.
2. Record cold temps will occur over much of the central US in January
3. There wiil be an outbreak of severe weather over the southeast US in February with heavy rains, damaging thunderstorm winds, and tornadoes.
4. A subtropical storm will form in mid May off Cape Hatteras and skirt the coast of NC and VA, causing minor damage.
5 .Early summer will be mild for much of the US, then a blistering heatwave hits in July.
6. August is quiet in the tropics, once again prompting Rainstorm to declare there will be no more storms for the season.
7. Around Labor Day all hell breaks loose in the tropics. NHC finds itself tracking 4 storms at once.
8. A major hurricane will impact coastal NC in mid September, then follow a track similar to Isabel did in 2003. Somehow the NC Outer Banks..despite sustaining a direct hit, gets only moderate damage. Eastern Virginia isnt so lucky with major damage throughout the Tidewater area. It will be months before power is restored to some areas.
9. Saddamn Hussein will die in custody, prompting allegations that he was mistreated.
10. Texas takes a hit from a major hurricane in October. Although damage will be severe there are few fatalities due to mass evacuations.

Here are mine, just hypotheticals

1. The first cat 3 since 1938 makes landfall in New England, causing damage many times worse than Andrew. Will be the single most destructive day in US history and will remain that way for many years

5. The Braves finally get back to the NLCS but lose in 6

6. There will be no NHL hockey

7. Putin launches a major campaign against Al Queda and caputures many senior leaders, but not Bin Laden

8. Saddam will be convicted of war crimes and executed

9. I will fly into hurricanes on the RAINEX experiment (assuming I can pass a Navy swim test)

10. I enter graduate school and start work on my PHD either in June or August

Okay, that's just freaky.

Sadly, the evacuations resulted in many deaths, but most likely saved a lot of lives as well.

Quite a few pegged TX as a target this year, though not everyone got the month right.

Far too many mentions of assasination attempts on GWB up there. I hope those aren't right. It's scary enough about the ones that are. And the year isn't over yet!

Garrett, I had to pull this one out. :) Were you thinking ahead about Chesney?

No kidding - WOW. And I'm sure the only reason over 95% evacuated from here is because of what we witnessed a few weeks earlier. There still would have been a mass evacuation, but I think a lot more would have stayed anyway if it hadn't been for what had just happened with Katrina. Ironically, the deaths from Katrina no doubt saved many lives during Rita.

Everyone on here seemed to predict 2005 wouldn't be as active as 2004 and it broke numerous records. Now the same is being said for 2006. No way can it be as bad, but there will be some, so I can only pray for many fish. It's going to be a long time recovering from this year.
