Loop Current

It seems like this year the Loop Current in the GOM was the gasoline "supercane unleaded " with 93 octane that led to Katrina&Rita although they acted like WPAC typhoon.

why would i thank a jacuzzi water current that gave high octane fuel to two historic CAT 5 monsters

Ummm...the loop current is evil for making katrina and rita and therefore
does not deserve to be thanked...

this post is becoming more about my comments rather than the substance of it.This90 degree water current destroyed billions of dollars in homes/businesses also it took lives with it.

Katrina went over that current she went from 115 mph to 145mph in between the 11pm advisory and 2am advisory

Troll?? Thats why I have stayed away from the board lately.. The personal attacks for no reason are out of control with some people on this board.

Anyway, you are correct F5... What a current and what a couple of storms... It just shows you also that you dont need a Cape Verde hurricane to be one of the strongest and most destructive. Still intersesting to me how the heat content decreased so much as it approached the coast.. How did Camille pull it off?? :wink:

According to the Wikipedia article I posted (link is in my above post), Camille rode the Loop Current all the way up to Mississippi, thus it didn't weaken.

i think the NHC should take jacuzzi type currents like the loop current into there intensity forecast .how long does the storm stay over the current ,upper level conditions shear,dry air ect.If those conditions are perfect boom :blowup: CAT 5 baby
