After November 30th?

#1 Postby JTD » Sat Oct 01, 2005 6:36 pm

The hurricane season officially ends November 30th but what if 2 or 3 storms form after that date, is the list being used right now used for those storms as well?

But for December storms only, of course. On January 1, we start using next year's list.

Don't worry, it won't happen. Because there will be so many End of Season Parties going on in the islands, we will slightly shift the universe and slide nicely into fall.

Here's an interesting one...a New Year's Hurricane:

http://www.wunderground.com/hurricane/at195411.asp

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Alice_of_1954

From Wikipedia:
Alice was used twice during 1954; the latter storm was thought to have been part of the 1955 Atlantic hurricane season since it was believed to have formed on January 1, 1955. During post-storm analysis, however, it was determined that this storm formed December 30, 1954, and was thus part of the 1954 season. The names are the same since the National Weather Service recycled the same naming list year after year during this era.
